about vishnu's secret
Some call it baroque-pop, others call it narcoleptic punk; at once ecstatic and operatic, but darkly reflective and full of melancholy, Vishnu's Secret defies most attempts at classification.
Vishnu’s Secret has been described as “ an ethereal blend of classical and avant-garde styles…
Vocalist Aimee Page delivers passionate prose with a soaring, ethereal soprano woven between Bob Burn’s intricate guitar and cello lines and the band’s lush harmonic foundation, provided by bassist/cellist
Trey Donovan and multi-instrumentalist James Garrison.
Vishnu's Secret originated in Santa Cruz, CA in the early 1990's when vocalist Aimee Page and guitarist/cellist Bob Burns began writing, recording and performing music together as a duet, sometimes accompanied by saxophonist James Garrison and percussionist Jeffrey Andrews.
The group performed and recorded in the Bay Area and in Seattle during the 1990’s. Re-forming in 2008, in the San Francisco Bay Area, Vishnu’s Secret has created new arrangements, adding classical guitar, a second cello, contrabass, piano, and live electronics. Vishnu’s Secret continues to perform for diverse audiences of loyal fans and new friends in the bay area and beyond.
